Living in the suburbs of Chicago, I have a lot of commuting men and women in my life. Many of them have early departures and return home late in the evenings. Many have also reported that they were negatively affected -at the workplace and at home - by their commutes.

Scent + Memory Diffuser - Fall 2018
What is precious to me is memory. Memories of family, adventure, and childhood road trips - especially our family excursions to countless National Parks. They were magical times of serenity, togetherness, and unforgettable sights.
Memory is best triggered by specific scents. This is called Olfactory Memory. Can I preserve special moments, through scents that are associated with a specific time or place? Can I could immerse a home with memory?

People cherish memories like nothing else. Humans go to many lengths to try to preserve those memories: piles of grandparent’s pictures are stored in attics, scrapbooks are updated religiously by family members, home videos are shared amongst friends, and even things like electronic picture frames and Snapchat memories have emerged. There are even ‘Chicago’ or ‘Kansas’ scented candles meant to remind you of home.
For the finished model, a polished, light ash wood body mimics the beautiful Red Rocks at Zion National Park. The material and form creates a versatile, friendly housing for the irreplaceable memories within.
